A Poem by Ryan Hamill

You Beautiful Sin

You Terrible Thing.

I gaze upon you with appetence. I would travel to your temple at Paphos to kneel at your altar, offer a prayer at your shrine.

My hubris exceeds me, my pride unbound, yet with a look alone I am weak.

Your stare, the intensity of the sun, could consume me.

Into that Brightstar I would go willingly.

List my vices and you would not find avarice among them, and yet I covet thee.

There is an injustice to this world, it stirs my wrath.

Where once I was guilty of sloth, slave to inertia, I am not a creature in motion.

With you, I have my Paradise Found.

You are My Beautiful Sin.

You are the most Wonderful Thing

What a consuming verse and thought, all encompassing and unrestrained. Powerful expression and read.
