Running

Running

A Poem by BLACKBEARD
"

A poem about running from the memories of the past

"
I kept running from the thoughts constructed by her existence

I kept running from the echoes of her voice which linger within
these dark walls

I kept running til I reached the sun light,
Only to discover that the
memories of her are attached
to my soul the same way my
shadow is attached to my feet.

The last 3 lines hit me very hard. My eyes teared up because of how beautiful and strong the metaphor is. I really just love how beautifully you explained how we try to forget about our past and try to move on but it is such a struggle. I honestly can't think of a better way to explain it. Extremely relatable. Very well done.

shadows attached to only feet is a out-of-body yet beautiful metaphor. Which sums up
what discombobulation love, or the loss of love can be. Nicely written my friend...dana

WOW. This is absolutely amazingly gorgeous. I love the last 5 lines. That is so very true. We often try to run from things that are part of us. Beautifully written. great great job

thanks for taking your time to read my work !
Oh, this is eerie. I love the feeling of entrapment when the narrator reaches the dawn, only to discover that his supposed lover is still weighing the narrator down. The visual created by here -

"I kept running til I reached the sun light,
Only to discover that the
memories of her are attached
to my soul the same way my
shadow is attached to my feet."

- is not only haunting, but maddening and beautiful. The means to an escape are shattered. I adore this. I look forward to more of your work.
