FOR OLASUPOMI

A Poem by Titilayo Sarah Eguridu

Flashback

"
Your message ushered me into a time that was both beautiful and lost!
It was hard to quantify the cost
As it inspired a lightening bolt of anticipation
I wondered if you were now invested enough to participate
Did you feel what I felt back then?
Deep inside me, a slow fire started to thaw the ice around twenty nine years of separation.
I feared you had returned to finally repatriate my feelings.
Never to taste the beauty of reciprocated love from you.
To my utmost surprise,
As the ice thawed, memories began to emerge slowly from the cold foggy scenes stored  in my heart
I felt a warm stirring of harmonious tenderness
…that I assumed was long lost.
Could you possibly care???
I pried long forgotten memories from the chilly archives of my mind!
…and what a find!!!
The memory of your smile enveloped me in a cuddle and opened a flood of endless sunshine.
Creating light halos of grandness around memories from a long time ago.
One thing is sure, your smile was lethal.
It could force any door open.
I sit still, unfrozen, as I await your call.
