BAIT!!!

BAIT!!!

A Story by Titilayo Sarah Eguridu
"

Inspired by Cyprian Van Dyke

"
Sashaying and floating ten inches above ground level
In a voluptuous but toned body with hips so round
You moved fluidly to the music playing and became the music
Our cue sticks were suspended
We were thoroughly mesmerized
Like a moth to a flame our instincts picked the eau de mantis scent
You were out to steal, kill and destroy
You glided towards us languidly, as twelve pairs of eyes zeroed in on you.
Looking provocative and insanely attractive…
You peeped through the long black lashes framing your beautiful grey eyes.
Assessing your preys!
We were magnetically handcuffed to your ravishing beauty…
Until you broke the spell…
“A drink and a wild night out,
Who’s up for the challenge?????
CHALLENGE OR EXECUTION???
We all screamed in concert mentally
Shaking our heads in unison and resuming our game
…as if you never happened.
The proprietress strolled towards us beaming with smiles and clapping…
Take the bait and loose your souls???
Not tonight!!!

Hi, Titilayo
Thank you for allowing me to inspire you :)

I really like the title first off, it weaved a theme for me throughout this poem.
It is clear that the praying mantis is limned-personified in this poem.
You invoked a fitting genre/emotion/feeling for such a creature, that is fitting for it.
I can't look at a praying mantis the same again after you described it as voluptuous . :)
I looked up a pic of it and was like, "wow that really fits. It looks like it's wearing a class dress even.
Thank you, dear friend for writing this and sharing it with me.

"Eau de" - perfume? Nice, you educated me.

You too, Titilayo
i can't believe i missed this earlier. i was captured by the first few lines, i felt like i was dancing with her. as i read on i learn a bit more about this dancer. this femme fatale, graceful but dangerous. she holds prisoners captive with her charms. it's an incredible story. it feels like being seduced - esciting but scary.

... Happy new year!
