Broken

Broken

A Poem by Titilayo Sarah Eguridu
"

Life

"
Embarrassment jabbed me on the chin!
I heaved , puffed and sputtered!
Words eluded me.
I clawed my way out of the misty tunnel my mind had become.
Disgrace had a chock hold on my soul
It’s official…my heart is in shambles!
I attempt scrambling my soul out of this pit of endless emotional horror but I am frozen in time like the wax statues in Madame Tussaud’s Museum.
I have an audience of  sixty  eyes…watching ardently
I had become an actress in a tableau.
A tableau that featured my fiancé  and my best friend in a steamy kiss at our engagement party oblivious that they have been caught!
I stand deflated ,defeated and terribly broken.
What next?

What can you say about a situation like this one? The finance and the best friend seem to have no impulse control. At an engagement party, no less! There is no way I could advise anyone how to handle this one except to put it in the past as soon as you can.

Those words are finely laid but an estuary of pain, stretching deep into a future you neither deserve or need. Next is survival and recovery, dear lady. Take great care of you.

(May I ask are you Titilayo, Sarah or.. how do you prefer to be addressed?)

Thank you Emmajoy!
I am smiling already
I had to look up Madame Tussaud's museum, that was interesting and put into the poem aptly. I was hooked by the poem from the beginning to the end, the way you described getting hit on the chin. tyfs
