MIRACLE

MIRACLE

A Story by Titilayo Sarah Eguridu
"

TRUE STORY

"
It was 12:46am
The harmattan was bitting,
Yet I was sweating profusely,
I had been in labor for over twelve hours
I was frail, and tired
Suddenly The room went silent
I heard the nurses whispering
...my baby was born dead.
I started sobbing uncontrollably reminding God about his promises
The nurses joined in the prayers
While the doctors battled to get her to breathe
After what seemed like a lifetime,
...a miracle happened.
She made a tiny wail
...The promise keeper showed up
...God showed up

this intense drama in less than a hundred words blew me away. as a man, i have no idea what giving birth is like, so reading about it was eye-opening. but the next conflict arises straight afterwards. i was stunned, too shocked to be heartbroken. at the end, i breathed a sigh of relief. it was a tense, nail-biting narrative. however, that the miracle came through in the end gives it a great moral.

Your words humble me.What’s a writer without a reader?
Thank you Ern.

Wonderful story. I was so happy this had a happy ending. Also I love that you mention the dry harmattan weather of the west African coast. From December to February. So we get a feel of the story. Thanks for sharing the miracle.
