LOOK UP

LOOK UP

A Poem by Titilayo Sarah Eguridu

Mother Earth changed the melody of her song to a staccato of rhythms
Her convulsions leave the world in a wake of tears and gnashing of teeth
Who can save mankind from this endless dark tunnel?
I can’t escape the pictures of mayhem that harass me every where I turn
Human emotions are stretched thin
Hunger pangs fill the earth as people loose their means of survival.
Emotional vampires prey on helpless and psychologically weak people
Leaders are making decisions that are in excruciatingly bad taste!
Children have become casualties of war in a place called home.

I mourn what was but I know that my grief is misplaced
because the world is never returning to what it was.
So, what next?
Look up!
Did day fail to break today?
Did the air on earth cease?
This is proof that all hope is not lost.

Lift up your eyes!
There is abundant hope !
Don’t look to man!
Look to God!
Don’t glorify misfortune!
Let me take you to the mender of broken hearts and dreams.

People are lost and need guidance. But many don't know where to find it. In Bible times even teenagers ruled their kingdoms and did good for their people. I don't think a teen today has enough common sense and decency to rule let along adults.
