Give Me SummerA Poem by Brad
Give me a boat on still water
A forgotten book and fishing pole Slipping from relaxed fingers While birds and insects sing a lullaby Give me a scenic overlook Trees one-sided from prevailing wind A view down distant valleys Dissolving into purple mist Give me Little League games Faces sticky, dirty, and red The joy of the ice cream truck And running screaming from the hose Best of all give me night When the warm, humid air breathes peace The stars wish to speak with me And the fireflies light the way home
