The SeagullA Poem by B. E. AshleyFree form or maybe...free verse?
The Seagull
I was sitting by the shore,
silently watching a seagull
Carefully she prepared for flight.
She ruffled her feathers,
then stretched her wings.
Suddenly she freed herself from earth's cage,
soaring on unseen currents.
Her shadow floated gracefully over a
blue-green sea, darting amongst the waves.
So very small I feel.
Here is the ocean,
the sky,
and me,
A speck upon earth's surface,
a dot in the universe,
a grain of sand in the sea.
All in a moment of time.
