Destroyer

Destroyer

A Poem by Bhumika Devkota

Haste. (1)

Fast, hurry, rushing. (3)

Haste does not bring success, (10)

it takes your breath, and then your world, your everything.

Haste does not bring success, (34)

it crumbles it up like the paper you throw on the trash bin.

Haste does not bring success,

it throws you on the highway.

Haste does not bring success,

it makes you cry at the corner of the streets,

because you have missed everything.

Haste does not bring success, (42)

it takes your life's moments away.

It takes your midnight talks.

It takes your happiness.

Haste does not bring success,

it takes your family and friends,

and destroys your precious youth.

Haste does not bring success,

it takes your smiles,

and crumbles your world to the point where you only have you.

Haste does not bring success, (31)

enjoy the small moments;

The fresh air after it rains,

the blades of grass that's stuck to your hair,

when you fall asleep under the tree.

Haste does not bring success,

it makes you lose everything.
