Daydream

Daydream

A Poem by Bhumika Devkota

Daydream

Hope is a desire,

A wish or a dream

And that is what this little butterfly does, she dreams.

She hopes and dreams that one day, she will be able to  fly across the oceans,

And dive into the depths of the blue sea.

She wants to swim around the corals

And be where the whales swim.

It’s all impossible but she dreams;

She wants to fly into the sky, farther than the Sun,

She yearns to blend with the colors of the galaxies,

And watch the comets fly at the speed of light.

She wants to see the different stages of the stars,

And take part in something elegant.

It’s all impossible for this little butterfly,

But even so, she lies there in her bed, hoping and dreaming

She knows it will never happen,

But is it a sin to hope, dream and imagine?

Especially when it’s your only comfort,

The only thing that will let you sleep.

Two poems published in a day! (Does it count that I wrote them one week apart? Let's ignore that tiny fact). Hope you enjoy it. Feedbacks are always appreciated!
