Chaos in the Corner of Our EyesA Poem by BrandtWritten after reading an essay by Lewis Thomas. Also inspired by Khalil Gibran and Martha Nussbaum, and my own personal experiences with love and detachment in a reality where change is a constant.
from dhghem, we became sentient humans
with humble humility for fertile humic soil as the Earth is more than rock and water more than the ground upon which we walk the whole Earth feels the resonance of symphonies the whole Earth discovers itself within itself the whole Earth is a multitude of dependencies as we lay down upon the cool, wet grass we see the great light that they once held as close to their center as I once held you the whole Earth shakes at the tremor of birth the whole Earth separates itself from itself the whole Earth is a stage for you and me that the shine of your eyes is now absent from mine, and that the warmth I once felt was only a sensation of our time together like the words I failed to speak, we change our worlds, but the meaning is still felt within the whole Universe sounds incomplete the whole Universe unites all differences the whole Universe is a marvelous miracle the whole Universe is surprised by the Earth the whole Universe is inseparably discrete © 2017 Brandt
