Entire Room Warmed

Entire Room Warmed

A Poem by Brad Dehler
"

From the book "Syzygy" by Brad Dehler, 2020

"
I find solace in the cry room
Despite- I am not crying
Entire room warmed
By my presence
Faithfulness for the faithless
Goodness without witness
Reduction of God to bite size
Morsel enough
(Save you)
Affliction avoided by infliction
(Bathe you)
Scar bestowed
Asleep, I was caught in the wake

This short poem speaks to me of safe places. Places where we can go and think what we want to think without the judgement of others. My safe place is in my mind. That’s where I have freedom. All to much these days I see freedom of expression being watered down or cancelled altogether. This is probably not what you intended with this poem but it is where I drifted. Thanks for the friend request.

On second reading, I think of my garden. That place is where I find peace.

I love poems that are deep and the reader has to figure out what the poet is talking about. Love it!

Definitely
An interesting comparison. Babies that cry for natural and physical causes as opposed to adults that cry out for what they believe are spiritual or religious causes. I feel warmer in the first as well. I particularly liked the the play on words in the last line. Eternal sleep is a place for a wake.

I do like the lines above. Somehow we seek the painful road. And knowing. Thank you for sharing the amazing poetry and your thoughts.

I think this type modernist work should be read as a whole, a commentary on a state of society, perhaps this moving away from religion.

Thank you sir for such a grand stirring statement of support. Really heartened. Yes!
Cry room, now that is superbly interesting. And the idea of God able to be experienced that is a perfect description of revelation. The last portion reminds me of Adam after the deep sleep. So many strands of thought and avenues to explore.

I really like the feel of this from execution through subject and its many layers to whimsey and cleverness.

Thank you Ken Simm. I really appreciate your support and praise.
The cry room.

Yeah, rings a few bells.
But then, without that, a lot of creativity would end up fueling boring creations...

Pink glasses always on... Never good, there's always something more wrong with those people than the rest of us.

There's a lot of things that come to mind after reading this, but enough out of me.

A christening, an awakening...
Interesting that a scar is 'bestowed'....I found it intriguing too.
The poem speaks to me of the power of religious faith and all things such that sweep us away in their spate. One gets caught up in the flow, unawares.
You make a powerful statement here.
