Darkness can be comforting or frightening depending on whether we loathe or embrace it. I love the night and the silence when I can write without interruption or guilt from being taken away from things "important". But then, my mother said since my birth I've had my days and nights "mixed up". Don't get me wrong, I do not begrudge others their hours in the sun or their busy days filled with people and places. But I'm just an old curmudgeon of the night seeking refuge in familiar shadows. Your poetry never fails to delight, Brad. I think you're one of the finest poets on this site.

I really like this. The light sends the shadows fleeing. "Light is sown for the righteous, and gladness for the upright in heart." Psalm 97:11 There is joy where there is truth and truth is revealed by the light.

Great poem, beautifully concise.
One nit to pick have I- you could lose the first word in the second line. The “For” as used there is archaic and unnecessary, imho.

I am meticulous in my word choice and so I do appreciate your take on what can be left out. I left in "for" to transition to a level of encouragement rather than stating facts. That was the logic.
Paraphrased from Genesis 1: "And, in the beginning the earth was without form, and void; and, darkness was upon the face of the deep; and, God said, 'Let there be light,' and there was light."
Well, Brad,
You can easily tell my propensity to pontificate has already exceeded your succinctly deep verse.
I've found that what hides in the dark is scared of what light reveals … which your words have already so concisely and brilliantly spoken.
Love a poem that imparts so much in so little space.
Brava, Poet! ⁓ Richard🖌

Excellent use of the small amount of words used. Really inspiring, and I enjoyed this poem very much. Shows that there is more than one side, the dark is not any stronger than the light; they fear each other
