A Clockwork Orange

A Clockwork Orange

A Poem by Dmi

started rough
the same way, each day, torn to pieces, still owing life big-time began early in the morning

forever screwed
they'd write another check out to themselves, blank, scribble, sign illegibly, remember me

carelessly knew
they'd go bounce another day's books too, pity, infinity plus infinity, comped them complimentary, new lows

habits routinely
return, colors random, chaos like a clockwork orange, dulling, faded, worse now than before

confess usually
to wrongs, they'd done late that night, or day, before yesterday, buried sins, hid them, unlikely they'd be forgiven

pray often
for mercy, apologize, say sorry, you'll see, don't lose faith, tomorrow will be different

leave, relieved
at the same time, looking empty, muttering the same old, same old lines, ending, P.S.

Oh, please
can you not cash those checks from today, tomorrow's you get either each account is in the red

truth be told
it's currently overdrawn instead, the futures looking blah as well, glory to you father, son, and holy spirit.... amen
