That Vegas Night

That Vegas Night

A Poem by B. Boileau
"

I was about 1/2 mile away that night. The images of the strip going dark will forever be burned in my memory.

"

If you listen close

To the wind at night

You can hear the horror

Of that Vegas night

The shots that ring

Still close, even now

Questions still linger

What, why, how

Borrow a pair of angel wings

Fly with me across the dessert tonight

Tell our children I love them

And everything will be alright

The rainbows in the dessert

Light the way to the rocky gates

We follow them through the valleys

All along the frozen lakes

The storm clouds are behind us

We rest in caves by a fire

And begin our journey tomorrow

To the land of peace we desire

"the land of peace we desire"....indeed, we all hope for it, but will not know for sure it exists until the day we close our eyes for the last time. Such a tragedy in Vegas...and this tribute is touching. Lydi**

Your words so graciously pay tribute to those souls whose lives were tragically cut short that night and remind us of the hope we have in the end. Good to see your writing again!

Our willingness to write truthfully brings the story to life. And begin our journey tomorrow

To the land of peace we desire,
Welcome Back Bill. Hope to see more of you here

A wave of madness encircles the world, and nowhere has it been more pronounced than Las Vegas. Your fine poem reminds us of that tragedy.
