PICTURE INSIDE OF A STERLING SLIVER FRAME

How wonderfully maintained

those manicured smiles are

He the right height above her

to show stature and strength;

she the anticipated 6 inches below

to have her face give that needed

upward tilt as she admires him

with love’s glow

How they must have practiced

To give what they not know

Then to have that ever present little

child set squarely in the middle

how he looks so protected as he shares

each individual

The picture inside of a sterling silver frame

How far from the truth!

How cruel its aim to remind the unfortunate of

what life is supposed to have captured

to make the lonely enthralled

no, even to become enraptured at

what they shall never reap

Oh! The fantasy they are selling

is as silly as a yak sitting on a

bar seat, tossing back order after

order of whiskey taken neat

The family of that sterling picture frame

is not a family at all

it is a captured lie

of mass production

no memories, no reality of that day

just a piece a paper to be thrown

away...

Juxtaposition of imagination and reality. How we look at a certain picture and marvel at the happy, content looks of the faces and suddenly, the stark reality of it being just a facade. Nothing but a lie. Maybe, that is how people create profits by exciting the dreams of many and living off them.

Well penned. :)

Pictures and photos do become important. I tell people. If i could go back in time. I would of took more pictures and been kinder. Sort of a sad poem. To need to hold on to a fake picture of happiness. Maybe your friend need a field trip to take pictures and create some memories. Thank you for the excellent poem.

This is awesome and captivating!Great structure of word choice it flowed really well. It made me happy at the beginning and sad at the end so the emotional effect is definitly there! Great work and keep writing!!

The way that you paint this leavs such a clear picture of the lonlieness in the readers mind. You capture the sorrow and the longing perfectly here. Such a forlorn life to need the fake pictures, but the resulting poem is beautiful and thought provoking
