It's a special covenant

Between two people

Who love to sacrifice

For one another

In order too maintain

The blessings of a happy home

As the butterflies remain

In the hearts and stomachs

Of only a chosen few

Who've vowed to sanctify their union

As long as time will approve

It's relevantly the only virtue

Demonstrated by two infatuated lovers

Within a picture book titled

The Essence Of True Commitment

Who are now in plain view

Of all reading admirers

Who never thought

This type of love could be made possible

During these current relational times

Of infidelity and plausible heartbreak

You know, I like this one. It has a great message at its core. Marriage is a vow, until death due you part...not until...I think is too hard, due you part. It takes work, just like anything else. Great poem.

you usually keep things very general, and suddenly when you add just one or two images your poetry is incredibly amplified and much more intriguing! keep adding those butterfly wings or other images to your writing. this was a great piece, and an interesting topic to explore!

As others have pointed out, I enjoyed the "butterfly" image; adding the imagery really kicks up the emotion in a piece like this (the more the better!). Sanctifying a union, though, does not always gaurantee a "forever" commitment, unfortunately. Though I think the idea of this piece is quite beautiful and what we all strive for.
