The Waiting Game

The Waiting Game

A Poem by B-poet

The cost of waiting

Is so high

As a moment towards attainment

Contrasted a reality nicknamed

Now and why

It's hard to embrace

Somehow a king's been

Put in his place

By a pawn

Who's already checkmated him

Since the beginning of time

The cost of losing

The Waiting Game

Remains superlative enough

So a pawn can catch

The king's bluff for a ruled enterprise

After the king realized

Why defeat came

Ever so swiftly

To end the game

Within its entirety

The cost of waiting it so high, that's for sure. I love the bold reality embraced in this piece. You have knack for these kinds of things.

I love the chess motif...I'm surprised more writers don't use it actually...a slow king can only fight off so many deft pawns...sadly for the pawns, the kings have greater oratory sway...great piece :)

this really made me think in the best way possible...could the human nature to wait be our biggest downfall? very interesting. I had to read this a few times, but i'm glad i did because it really stuck to me. I guess I shouldn't wait around thinking about it too much though, should I?

-smile-

Chess is very popular these days.

Thank you, my friend for sharing this one. No long commentary from me this time, as I am sure you are already aware of my feelings on this game.

Wonderful work once again. :)
