Along with morality, ethics, and etiquette voluntarily

Sitting in the same back seats

Of our psyche

Unfortunately greed and narcissistic tendencies

Have taken The Driver Seat

Of our running heart forsaken engine

Within the land of lost and forgotten social concepts

No more, No less

We're constantly trying to trample any person

Getting in the way of our daily indulgence

Disguised as consumer consumption paid for

At the expense of all naive and uninformed people

Buying into the current propaganda at hand

Truthfully it's not uncommon

To promote mutual respect for your fellow man

From within the cordial depths of all caring souls

Living without regrets

Yet the loss of credibility towards personal merit

Is why most people love

So true. People don't realize how their behavior influences the people around them. Maybe they just don't care anymore. That is even a sadder thought still.

For myself, I think the Internet plays a huge part in where just basic manners these days have gone.. In cyberspace you can be anyone and say anything, there are no "real life" repercussions really. This attitude is beginning to bleed it's way over into offline life as well.

A great write on loss of simple human virtues in lieu of gain and notoriety. :)
