Living Within The Land of Lost And Forgotten Social Concepts

Living Within The Land of Lost And Forgotten Social Concepts

A Poem by B-poet

What ever happen to chivalry

Has common courtesy

Taken a back seat

Along with morality, ethics, and etiquette voluntarily

Sitting in the same back seats

Of our psyche

Unfortunately greed and narcissistic tendencies

Have taken The Driver Seat

Of our running heart forsaken engine

Within the land of lost and forgotten social concepts

No more, No less

We're constantly trying to trample any person

Getting in the way of our daily indulgence

Disguised as consumer consumption paid for

At the expense of all naive and uninformed people

Buying into the current propaganda at hand

Truthfully it's not uncommon

To promote mutual respect for your fellow man

From within the cordial depths of all caring souls

Living without regrets

Yet the loss of credibility towards personal merit

Is why most people love

Living Within The Land Of Lost And Forgotten Social Concepts

Outstandingly true words! It's funny because my friends/family actually harp on our generation of kids to make sure we instill morals and manners that seem to have somehow skipped a generation. And its both disgusting and sad. My husband loves that my niece and nephew resond to me with just a look. But I watch other kids walk all over their parents and demand bigger, better, faster, more. This culter that we have bred, when does it end? Great piece. Very thought provoking.

So true...the world was less complicated and more romantic "back in the day" (before my time, unfortunately). Of course, with all social change, good or bad, there is a consequence. For instance, we had feminism, which brought a lot of good things, but that also, at least in my opinion, led to the decline of chivalry. I like being a "strong woman", but I was also raised to be a "lady". There is something to be said for indulgence and living for the moment, but we should also keep to a certain moral fiber. This was thought provoking. Well done.

This is lovely, the line-breaks are flawless. The consonant sounds make every word snap, and it builds the tone. Few people can really make use of rhythm effectively, but you've done it here. It could be punctuated more consistently, but eh.

Even the art of conversation has died...people would rather talk on their phones and text ...its sad...and they dont have time to notice the little things in life. Its become an invisible world...Nicely done..SyberRose

very honest and raw dear, adored the commentary. And the last line sent absolute shivers

Well, amen to that. There is so much truth to this piece. I love how you say it in such a matter-of-fact way. Good read :)

Well said. Everyone, specially the children, get badly influenced by those who have taken the "Driver Seat", and they hardly care. I loved it :)
