Why Do Bad Things Happen To Good People

Why Do Bad Things Happen To Good People

A Poem by B-poet

You see it all the time

Good people

Are ostracized

Or scrutinized

For doing the right thing

Helping humanity

In the best and worst of days

Past and present

It's unfortunate

Inexplicable events

Have gotten them acquainted with

The wrong end of stick

Wayward karma is

Indecent to witness

As it undeniably

Happens to them

More often than usual

In regards to appreciation

For their services are concerned

The Good Samaritan role is labeled

Within a hypocrites venue

As separate yet not equal too

Their standards as for

Why Do Bad Things Happen To Good People

This poem reminds me of all the things that has happened through out history. All the change that we have now couldn't have been accomplished with out people standing for what they believed in..

this poem kind of...well, really does describe what i've been thinking about lately...
its a shame that people are ridiculed for being kind to others nowadays...like, what does it say about how humanity has evolved that people are now shocked when others do good and kind things for them? when people are polite, what does it say about how people are as a whole if the recipients of that politeness are actually, genuinely shocked to have experienced it?

well done :D

I like this, BPoet. I see the sincerity in each word.
"Why Do Bad Things Happen To Good People?" Sometimes we are in the same venue...of the hypocrites... for we follow standards that we don't like, and yet we have to live with it.

Nice poem. :)

There's a saying
" no good deed goes unpunished"
But... Don't let rewards that go to evil doers fool you either

I always enjoy ... Thinkers

Not sure the ending works - sounds a little odd. You have a good, relatable concept and you've expanded on it well, but I think you ought to reconsider on the ending.

I like the format, like the questions raised, and how it flows.

Answering the question - life. Life isn't fair. Also, people come at things from different viewpoints, backgrounds, beliefs, etc., so all of that comes into play as far as how "good deeds" are interpreted by others. I've known people that I think they're doing something for one reason, but it winds up that I am totally wrong or what I perceived to be true, is not. Of course, there's that old thing called communication too. Sometimes good people feel ostracized for their behavior or actions, but then don't speak up on their own behalf to clarify or allow those around them to understand their actions.
I'm getting into personal semantics here, but there are many, many reasons why bad things happen to good people.

Good things happen to bad people too - go figure on that one!?
