The Value of Friends

The Value of Friends

A Poem by B-poet

Its a special type of connection

For where ever you go

Familiar faces show

Memorable festive occasions

Within the memory of the sole observer

A.K.A. the mingling initiator

Cherishing each and every associative kinship

That's universal across

All borders and time zones

Reinforcing one common link

As they're a foundation for

This kindred association of personal bonds

I suppose will remain

Up close and personal

As long as the people

You're truly looking for

Are right up under your nose and

Around the corner thus waiting to expose

Their real value as forever friends

Who embody similar true virtues as you

The initial guardian of sociability

Will be displaying

Each and every friendship now being comprised

On a written wall mural

For all to see and have a clue

In relations too who you are as

A person of noteworthy social influence

Tried and true as fine wine

Appreciating an acquired taste

As a friendship wine taster

Toasting to The Value of Friends

Cheers to

Who will be there for you

No matter what life decides to dictate

Towards the outlook of all your friendships future keepsakes

For now and forever

That's very believable and obtainable

As you reach your peak within societies treasured social hierarchy

I know I keep saying this, but your diction has gotten better and better since I started reading your work and I just love it! I love your poems and the imagery they show the reader. Well done, mellon.

I find the word "friend" is a tricky one in our minds. On the one hand we have acquaintances we spend time with and are friendly to. Although we consider them "friends" we still keep parts of ourselves locked away from them, for whatever reasons.
Then there are the rare, true companions. We open the door wide and let them examine every nook, cranny and nuance of who we are. The good, bad, pretty and ugly.. They accept it all and somehow see something special in the mix. The things these individuals give that matter are: time, love, care and unwavering loyalty through whatever comes along. Once that bond is built it just grows stronger as years pass. It becomes almost impossible to break. When you find one of these rare beings you come to understand just how lucky you are. :)

They come in many guises.. From the nicest to the most annoying. It is always worth taking a closer look. You just never know..

-grin-

Obviously quite a thought provoking write (see Rogue chatter above). Very well put together.

Friendship is indeed a commodity that we should all strive to collect. Still, true friendship is something that is a deeply emotional thing; something that is not so easily obtainable. I quite enjoyed the exploration of your poem; it brought many things to my mind, and remdinded me of a few things I had forgotten. Well done.
