Inner Distinction

Inner Distinction

A Poem by B-poet

Fading in the wind

Like I never existed

This gift for coveted diction

Is relevant evidence

An Inner Distinction

What will be apparent in my own right

For the extent of a purpose

Refined within a structured outline of an unknown mortal timeline

So future generations

Will look it up in engraved text to find

A dignified scholar

Who made a emphatic impact

To supply his fellow admirers with

Transcending poetry that will help build and solidify

Their desired true character in life

So they can become model citizens

During their lifetime as well as in the afterlife

Try reading this piece out loud--there is no poetic flow nor rise and fall nor play with words for the sheer poetic joy of it

I like the thinking here. I did not find the write to feel poetic to me... More of a creative speach. Still, a fine presentation of thought.

This harkens back to a time when poetry was truly revered as the most soulful and spiritual artform...I get a hopeful vibe from this piece however...well done.

Taking a hiatus is needed sometimes. I think it helps us reconnect with what the heck we are doing with this. It is easy to get lost in it, start second guessing ourselves, wonder what it is we are actually trying to say.

This, to me, reminds me of a nomad or even a Nostradamus. As if you want the poetry to write you and not the other way around. Like you want it to touch the very center of people. I like that. We are all immortal in our words.

Welcome back, B. Yes, a hiatus once in a while refreshes the spirit and renews the creativity. Glad to see you back with this solid writing.

welcome back. sometimes a hiatus helps to put it all in perspective, and allows us to clean the slate and open our eyes better.

A haitus well spent reflecting on what is the importance of literature. This is poetic in a sense of wanderings...finding purpose in poetry, refining diction to solidify your impact in text, even when gone from this world....to leave a legacy, perhaps. Great write!
