Don’t Let Anyone Pull Your Strings

Don’t Let Anyone Pull Your Strings

A Poem by B-poet

I want to remain a new

Within my glistening glass case

Never left with lingering fingerprint residue

On me

So you can have a clue

And visually see

Where I’m coming from

Mentally and Emotionally

My strings will never be played

As I remain

Attentive with an open eye

Inside my glass case holding me

Upright and high

Anticipating the unveiling

For what’s presently

On the horizon

Unfolding in the sky

Are gray clouds

Moving to get too the spot

Where my hemisphere could become distraught

By twisted plots of precipitation

Chosen to be illustrated

Within the minds

Of the corrupted status quo’s enterprise

As I pass by

I tried to divert away from them

Not confiding in their trickery

I prefer to be within the right company

Of associates

While witnessing why

The depravity of my well-being

Was laid in front of me

On a platter labeled social conformed conspiracy

Upon every suggestive serving of brainwashing

Daily, weekly, monthly and yearly

Clearly I refuse

To be tarnished and touched

By your selfish intentions

Of playing me like a broken record

Titled “Be Self Subservient to become My Sinister Power Surge”

While I depreciate in value

Is absurd enough

To be considered

For meeting everyone’s needs and expectations

Within their proposed time table

No need to join their affiliation

Willing and able to do their binding at will

Is why you

Don’t let anyone pull your strings

Leaving you to burn

In a fire that needs to consume

You

In the present tense

Since you’ve now lost your innocence

By being violated in the context

Of someone who gained monetarily at your expense

Having been coerced in a self sabotaging plan

Now you've chosen to take the time

To be present and participate in

A fabricated benefit banquet recital

In relation to their pity party’s charitable cause

You are a lover of words!
Your vocabulary reflects a tactile desire for texture
in the words you press into service,
not just any word will do.
Absolutely enjoy reading you!

B Poet, you have done a wonderful job. This is really impressive.
I really feel, pulling strings to get your own work is unfair at times. But really, how many of those relationships we have which come with a label of "no strings attached". None.
Thank you for this wonderful read.

You set out a true dilemma here. Do we live shut off? Unopenned gifts to the world. Creations never given the experience that fulfills their purpose. Yet, we will be marred and abused and taken advantage of. Your poem coveys the frustration.

So true and well written, we're pulled in all directions and most of it is lies.
