Seasons of Chance

Seasons of Chance

A Poem by B-poet

In the Fall

My chances to be lucrative

Indeed were numerous

Lotto numbers in sync

A jackpot within reach

Yet I was just one number off to conquer all my worries

But in the Winter

A game of chance

Disguised as scratch-off

Helped me to advance

To only the bare minimum

Of winning five dollars

That was sort of depressing

So in the Spring

Why not hit Atlantic City

To see

If I could become a high roller

Over night

But the whole weekend there was a bummer

Because the crap table

Became a monster

Taking all my money

That was no fun either

So what the hell

I tried the Vegas Strip during the Summer

To make me feel better

As a failing gambler

Looking for more than just emotional comfort

I’m glad I made that move

Because my last dollar

Turned out to be good fortune

A ten percent portion of a 1,000,000 dollars

Was won playing the slots

Because the hot seat was given up

At the right moment

Indeed what a turn of events

To save my sinking gambling ship

So I could live the rest of my life

Happily extravagant

I like this one. I don't really see poems with all of the seasons in it, or one about gambling. Haha. You'll never know what you are given when the moment is right ;)
