The Truth of the UniverseA Poem by Brette MedbHere he lies with broken bones And skin that's turning from ashes to stone. He was once all that you asked but those days have long passed Where he tried to be what you expected him to be. You've killed his soul, smothered his spirit Now the darkness of night descends on the earth And you run like terrified children to the light of the fire, But even though you have cast him out And his bones now rot in the cage you have wrought He knows in his heart the truth of the universe; Darkness does not always equate to evil Just as light does not always equate to good. Sometimes one must submerge themselves in darkness To find the light within their own soul. © 2008 Brette MedbFeatured Review
