The Slap We NeedA Poem by BenyoucefI wrote this poem about the man we'd like to be and the man we pity, and the life line between themThe kid who couldn’t wait to grow he dreamt he’d shave and have a wife he’d get a job and start a life Don’t blame the kid, he didn’t know He always pictured muscles on him and some improvement down below An astronaut, that’s what he will be He’ll make a “leap” and be the show then prove for all from up above that rainbow’s just a candy bow then lick it clean and show the world Don’t blame the kid, he didn’t know After a while he came to realize A surgeon is the way to go he would cure cancer while on breakfast and laugh at death and ask for mo’ then he’ll reject the Nobel Prize to fight with his immortal foe Don’t blame the kid, he didn’t know Then life came up and slapped him twice And woke him up while on the row to get a check of unemployment Don’t pity him, it’s not that low !! At least right now he’d see through life and tell you what he just did know !! © 2012 BenyoucefAuthor's Note
