Shifting shadows

Shifting shadows

A Poem by Azriel

Esteem and honor never followed me,

And why should it?

Does the sun ever acknowledge the radiance of an embittered moon?
Or does the sky ever question,

The clouds and their forever accumulating state?

But I am shifting shadows,

Blown by the wind and I am lost like every other sunken ship.
Your sacred paths, I crawl along,

With blood at my hands and sorrow on my lips,
I linger in shadows for seasons on end

Gripping to every promise she made

That soon proved to be forgotten.

But I'll blame time and distance
For these holy grounds are not where shadows are to fall,
And these sinking sands are not where I belong.

This is not where I belong-
There is nowhere we belong.

My heart weeps for I know this sorrow, a familiar face I've seen before staring into the abyss where I once dreamed of life through a prism. Excellent read and write.
