Anchors

Anchors

A Poem by Azriel
"

this is one of my older poems, thought i'd post it first, as it was the oldest of mines that i could find. it's basically about being lost.

"

Constantly in motion, sensitive to the moving of the wind,

Following the trail set by this invisible force.
Like taking passenger on a directionless albatross,

Under your wings I am lost.

And who will be the one to guide me back to my den,

Where the lions roar and the wolves stay at bay?
From where shall my rescue from this tumultuous wind come ?

Lost at sea, in this constant purgatory of lies and deceit,
I search for your guiding hands, to take me out of this tide,

To save me from these waves.

But I have taken host to the blinded creatures of the sea,

Where the depths are of a deeply shaded black.

Where the anglers lore me out to play and then strike at me-

Who has been blinded by false light.
From where shall my help come from?,

No land in sight with lungs full to the brim,

Gasping for air, grasping for the wind.
With no anchors in sight,

Is this desolate place the harbor of your love?

thank you for your kind words, i really do appreciate them.
Sometimes loving puts us in a wavy sea, where we have only two choices: to live with it, or to leave it.
Good work.

~ wow... what a fantastic piece of poetry... i love your poetic voice in this piece... ah, that quest for the quintessential rescue is something that we can all relate to... but the way you wrote this piece is so earnest and so sincere and so moving and so heartfelt... that this has turned into a very, very magical piece of writing... that somehow makes the poet's voice triumph over adversity... perhaps, by writing this piece, the poet rescued himself... maybe...

~ well... i guess it's tough to assess the worth of one's own work...
Interesting way with words. It has a nice flow, I read it as a relationship that's definitely lost it's rudder and the other person JUST may have jumped ship but I'm not sure if this person has really worked it out yet! How many times have I felt thus? (Am too embarrassed to tell.) Smiling. Honestly I find it a very good read and it gave me a graphic grip. Thank you.

Azriel,
This is a beautiful poem, it is full of emotion. I admire the way you pull your reader in with imagery and questions. I interpret a lost child in need and want of guidance by someone who has so little to give. The need or want of love and direction from these hands only leads one further into danger. I loved the last line "the harbor of your love" -M
