The Guillotine's Fall

The Guillotine's Fall

A Chapter by Azura

I don't want to see the end

Of a world once so nice,

But these are the consequences

When fate, you entice.

The days are numbered,

Light ends too quickly.

Can you see my green cheeks?

Now I feel sickly.

But 'least I get a moments rest

Before the tidal wave hits.

Don't forget to clean the mess

When I'm blasted to bits.

Watch the numbers move,

Counting down from ten.

I guess I give my final wave

For this will be the end.

I watch the guillotine hanging

Just an inch above my head,

I wonder what will happen

When finally I am dead.

I shut my eyes and quiet my tears,

They can only hurt me more.

Look upon thy collared breast,

It's her name that you bore.

Quiet whispers- the crowd goes dead,

An eerie silence fills the air

Awaiting the horror

Of a tragic fate they wouldn't dare.

Bt blessed be silence,

I crave its calls

As I hear the noise

As metal falls.

Before I can think or speak a word

Or remind myself that life was fun

Its heavy weight pulls it down,

And now I shriek- my life is done.
