The Earth Beneath My Feet

You are...

The earth that keeps me steady,

The one that keeps me on my toes,

The one that makes me wish for something more-

Something no one knows.

The trees that stand above me

To shade me from the sun,

That doesn't judge but only watch,

Whatever I become.

 

You are...

The sand amongst the beaches,

Warm and silky smooth.

Though cold inside and warm on out,

Your feel will always soothe.

 

You are...

The mud that lay amongst the ground

After a long summer's rain.

But please don't wish to change yourself

Or else you bring me pain.

 

You are...

The plants that live amongst the gardens;

The red roses and grape vines,

And I love to sit amongst the flowers

Where our love intertwines.

 

You are...

The earth that stands me up

And gives me room to roam,

The only one I've ever loved-

The one that feels like home.
