Chapter 2

Chapter 2

A Chapter by Azura

I layed out in the sun, closing my eyes and catching some rays, despite the blistering heat. Hiding in the shade of my wolfish shadow was Jamal, my little vampire "friend". Yes, the very same "friend" whom I saved, and still wanted me dead. He shuffled around, obviously uncomfortable, making me grin. Since it was daylight, he had to sit in my shadow, for though we were in a forest, the trees were fairly thin, and didn't provide enough shade for him. Honestly, it would've been easy to find our way out if not for the huge amount of land here. My werewolf instincts right now were telling me that we were miles and miles from our escape, and since we could only move in the night, it'd probably be days before we could leave.

I sighed, and Jamal looked at me funny. "What're you so depressed about?"

I rolled my eyes, "Given the situation, everything. But mostly, we're gonna be stuck together for a while. There aren't any roads or cities, or really anything for miles to come." He watched my mouth as I spoke, and I crinkled my furry eyebrows, "What?" I asked, my voice gruff in this form.

He shook his head, "Nothing...just, I've never really seen a werewolf talk. At least, not without screaming. But it's even weirder when they're talking as a wolf. Honestly, I wondered if you could even do that, or if I'd be hearing barks and growls."

"What are you trying to say?" I joked, "You trying to call me a b***h, you jerk?!"

He sneered, "Why yes, actually. You are a dog, afterall."

Again, I rolled my eyes, and actually laughed. By now, the sun was starting to sink, so I knew we'd start moving soon. "Hey Jamie," I said, giving him that nickname specifically because he hated it. Though for what reason, I'm not too sure... not that I really cared. "Why are you playing around with me like that? Don't you want me dead or something?"

"Of course," he said simply, "And the fact of the matter is, you will be dead. And since you'll end up with your eyes cut open, your internal organs gnawed on by rats as you're slowly tortured to death through a thousand cuts, fish hooks poking into your flesh as you hang upside down from the ceiling until you bleed out, it won't really matter, you know?"

"Pretty graphic," I shrugged, "But how could I die of a thousand cuts if my organs are already strewn everywhere?"

"Hmph, touch'e." he nodded.

We patiently awaited the sinking of the sun, and when it went, without a second glance towards him, I sighed, "Fine, I'll scent out some prey. You know how to hunt, right?"

He looked shocked, "What? Hunting? But there aren't any hu-" he stopped, "Oh no. Oh no, no, no! I am not feeding from an animal!"

"Well, unless you can magically pull a human donor out of your a*s, I'm pretty sure you'll be hunting wild game tonight. Cause I can tell you one thing, you are not feeding from me."

As if it were possible, his face went further pale and he looked as though he were about to vomit. I resisted the urge to laugh, and sat back on my hind legs, licking my paws and cleaning my face- more of a catlike gesture than a dog, really, but what can I say? I needed to be clean, and it's not like there were showers out here.

"Fine." he mumbled, "Go catch a hare or something, mutt." I looked at him expectantly. "What?" he finally asked.

"I'm waiting."

"For?"

I smiled innocently, "I didn't hear the magic word, Jam-jam."

Like the spoiled brat he was, he looked like he was about to throw a fit over the usage of this new nickname, along with having to beg me to fetch him animal blood to drink. His face was red like he was on the verge of an explosion, but he just nodded, "Fine. Please, fetch me a hare or something."

"See? Wasn't so hard, was it? Or, well, maybe it was considering the situation. I'll be back soon, Jam, so don't go losing my clothes, or you won't need to worry about lack of blood ever again." I threatened with an cute, puppy-like smile.

He nodded, and I took off.
