Chapter 1A Chapter by AzuraThanks for the help, Vannah. ^^ And readers, please enjoy.I sped through the open wood, my feet burning as my chaser- gliding effortlessly across the ground- sprints after me, giggling in delight. I dare to turn around, just once, to see how far I was. Bad idea. She was gone completely, and having turned around, I didn't notice when I crashed into something just ahead of me. I fell to the ground, a stick poking halfway through the palm of my hand where I landed, revealing the muscles lying underneath, blood oozing out the side. I looked up, in time to find a face full of razor sharp teeth staring down at me, hello, girl...
I awoke to the sound of footsteps, not quite sure where I was, the only thing I was truly sure about was that fact that I was going to die by the hands of these blood-lusting freaks. They were inhuman, their faces holding only two alien-like black eyes, filled only with its pupil, and teeth, razor-sharp to the touch. I squirmed in my seat, my hand bound to a chair with steel cuffs. I tugged my arms from side to side, and frowned. No give. I knew they'd come when I heard scraping on the door, and the lights went out. A single light flashed into my eyes, and I winced at its brightness. A man- or what looked like one- stepped forward, his face shielded by a mask, and through two holes, his dark eyes glared down into mine as if seeing into the soul. "You. What's your name?" Instead of answering, I looked for his eyes above the light and glared into them. He seemed to catch my gesture and moved his flashlight to see if that's what I was really doing. When he discovered it was, he leered. "Your name." he demanded. I kept my mouth shut, so he grabbed my hair and pulled it. Hard. I winced and bit my lip, I would not cry. Noting I still wouldn't speak, he took his flashlight, and slapped me across the face, and slammed it once into my chest. I spat up a little blood, and groaned despite my best efforts. Through the mask, his cheeks moved as if he were grinning at my pain. Again he gripped my hair, "We only want your name, little girl." I smiled, blood still running down my lip, and a bruise growing where I'd been hit. I was sure it was a sight to behold. I spat as far I could, joyous, even though it only managed to hit his waist. "Go f**k yourself." I growled. He gave a disgusted look, and snapped his fingers. Four men appeared through a newly open door, and hurried over, grabbing my arms and legs. "Geeze, you've got men that do just anything you want? That's more than I could pull off. What's your secret? Pay em in blow jobs?" They looked pissed- as I'm sure they were- but they remained good little minions, and wouldn't hurt me. That's what the boss was for. I was stood up, and the boss walked just a foot in front of me, and grabbed me by my neck, picking me up, and watching me choke. My face turned red as I gasped for air, my eyes feeling like they'd pop out of its sockets. I shut my eyes, and kicked out with all the strength I had, somehow landing a perfect blow to the groin. He grunted, and his grip faltered only a moment, but I took that moment and slammed my fist into his arm, making him drop me. Before anyone could do anything, I sprinted out the open door. Idiots. I laughed. I hurried as fast as I could, the hallways splitting up so many times it became ridiculous. I hurried down one of them and veered to the right, then made another right. I looked back only for a moment, and smiled. If not for the masks covering their faces, I'd say they looked confused. I ran through the halls, zig-zagging in random directions, throwing quite a few of them off my tail. Finally I came across a light, and my sprint quickened as I darted towards freedom, only to be stopped. By the boss man. He stood in the doorway, the grass on the other side smiling, taunting me and they waved back and forth in the wind. He smiled, knowing he'd caught me. "You're not taking me back there, retard. Don't even think about it." I said angrily. "Oh yeah?" he challenged. "Watch me." As he crept closer, I took a step back, and charged at him, throwing us out the open door...and off the edge of a cliff. His eyes widened, as did mine, as the grass I'd seen was thrown farther and farther upwards, the land shooting past us as we fell downwards. "You idiot!!" he cried out. "Shut up!" I growled at him again, allowing my sharp teeth to take form, my mouth shaping itself into a muzzle as I grew, fur enveloping my entire body. I grew to the size of a bear, bigger perhaps, and he held tightly onto me as I aimed for a river, though I had no idea of its depth, it was our only hope. We plummeted through its surface, and I hurried towards the top, gasping for air in the icy cold waters, and grabbing hold of the first thing I saw. I turned my head, for the man was no longer holding on, and was floating downstream. I shook my head,idiot... I looked back towards where my paws were barely gripping and sighed, letting go, and was pushed down the river again. Waves of water splashed above my head at times, taking me under, and I had to struggle to keep breathing. Eventually I found him, barely moving, his breath ragged. Another wave of water came, pushing him under with no sign of resistance. I sighed, why do I always have to be the good guy? I took a deep breath and dunked myself beneath the raging waters. There he sat against a rock, his face blue, and his body unmoving. I moved him with my teeth and ushered him atop of my head, going back up towards the surface again, and hurrying towards the edge after fighting the river for a good five minutes. I crawled up and dropped him on the ground, changing into my human form once again, and pressed my hands into his chest, thankful I ever decided to learn CPR. He coughed up a mouthful of water, his eyes rolling, "Knew it..." he barely mumbled, "Knew it. You're a....werewolf." Then he shut his eyes and passed out again. Knowing he wouldn't die, I stood up, "That's just great..." I walked down the edge of the river until I hit where it split into the ocean. The other side was just a pool of water, and I smiled in relief, spotting my clothes lying in it. The one downfall of being a werewolf? When you transformed, your clothes didn't transform with you. I threw them on, upset that there were a few rips in the jacket and jeans, and they were both soaking wet, but I'd rather be wet than nude. I heard footsteps just as I finished zipping up my jacket, and found the boss walking up towards me. I didn't think he'd seen anything, he was just walking up here now, and earlier after just woken up from CPR I doubted he could see much of anything at all. He looked at me, "I knew it. You're a werewolf." "Yeah, yeah." I waved a hand as if to shoo him off, "We've already established that. Now why don't you go home, little boy; I'm sure mommy's waiting with a batch of cookies and a fresh set of clothes." I swear he smiled, and he looked down, "You're so stupid. You know I'm not going anywhere. Especially now that I've discovered you're a werewolf. I'd die before I let you go." I looked at him, "That can be arranged." "Tch, you wouldn't kill me. You already had the chance." He smirked, I shrugged, "It wouldn't be fair to kill you like that. I'd rather have the fun of killing you when you're not at a disadvantage." "Bold words, mutt. But your actions will be your undoing. Before tonight you will die at my feet." I pressed a hand to my mouth, and giggled. Then I saw he was being serious and laughed even harder, having to grip my sides from absolute hysteria. "You...! You...? Are going...to kill...me?!" I barely sputtered out. I shook my head, "Dude, you almost died of a little water damage. You really think you can take me on? Especially in that state? Besides, it's not like you have any way to contact your little crew of followers. Not even water-proof electronics would withstand that kind of damage. And the way I see it, you owe me anyways. So do me a favor and let me go, and we'll call it even." He smirked, "Even if you did, you really think I'd just let you walk?" I sighed, "A girl can dream, can't she? Anyways," I added, "Say you did manage to kill me. What then?" "What do you mean?" I rolled my eyes, "Well for one, your little army of blood-leeches would still have like a thousand more werewolves to go. Plus, exactly how do you plan on getting out of here on your own?" He blinked in response. "Well, I for one, have werewolf instincts, so I can leave anytime I feel. You on the other hand...doesn't your kind die in direct sunlight?" His faced paled, despite its already pallid color, seeing my point in this situation. "What do you want?" he asked grimly. "Oh I dunno. My life, maybe?" "You know I can't do that." he said, "You're a spy for our enemies. If I let you live, you'll go blab about information that could very well have us all killed." I nodded, "True. That's why I propose- instead- a challenge. I help you get out of here, and you don't kill me. But the moment we leave the forest, you can go ahead and get your band together and use me as shooting practice. Kill me then, if you want, but not until we're out of here. It'll give you a chance for survival by getting out of this place, and me a chance by giving me time to escape. I mean, you don't anyone to talk to down here, so it's not like you can ambush me." He looked at me long and hard and- to my surprise- finally said, "Okay." I blinked, "Wait, did I hear right? You're cool with this plan? You won't like- try and kill me right this very second? Seriously?" He shrugged, "Well, I do love a good challenge. And this is the ultimate," he smiled. I smiled right back at him and lent out a hand, "So it's a deal?" Reluctantly, he shook it. "It's a deal." © 2011 Azura |
