Who Needs Friends?

Who Needs Friends?

A Poem by Azurai Frostwing
"

A fan-poem for The World Ends With You, (c) Square Enix. Great game, by the way. This is in Neku's point of view.

"
I stare at the photo
Old, gray, and torn
Why do I keep this
When what I've become
Is nothing like my past?

Later today
I wonder again
Friends come and gone
Without warning or notice

Why do I bother?
Why should I care?
All "friends" do is let you down
And hold you back.

I don't need friends.
I hate other people
Keep your interests
And I'll keep mine
Just shut up already!

I met a girl today
Her name was Shiki
I had to put up with her
For my own life's sake
Why won't she leave me alone?!

Day 5 is here
At the Scramble Crossing
Nobody sees us
Because we're dead

I'd sort of grown attached
To her annoying ways
That is why
I'm a Player in the Game again
Playing for my life
While she goes on living

Someday we'll be waiting
At the Hatchiko statue
Together

Love allows us to live
It gives us hope and security
But without it,
You're better off dead.

Will I come back to life?
Who knows.
But if I do...
Wait for me, Shiki.

We promised.
See you by Hatchiko....
