Empty Bottles

Empty Bottles

A Poem by Azalee Schmetterling
"

This is written about a lover of mine from long ago and the finality of life

"

Complacency slips into tragedy

Along with all that was promised to me.

A fractured fairytale laid to rest

Beneath the hands upon your quiet chest.

Mute cries echo through these ears

That listened idly to lies year after year.

Shivers ring through my veins

Jilting what has soothed my pain

From all the feelings you suppressed and

the six foot distance you put between us.

Wow, this -is- full of strong emotion. As Paul said, beautiful and cryptic and yet quite clear at the same time. At least the events, and in so few lines. Thank you for sharing this personal and moving piece with us.
