A Melancholic Cry Of An Old Man

A Melancholic Cry Of An Old Man

A Story by Ayush
"

This is a true event which took place after the earthquake in 25th April in Nuwakot district in Nepal where a news team interviewed an elderly person who told this event after funeral of his family.

"
A Melancholic Cry Of An Old
Man..

That was a memorable day which took my entire family away from me in a blink of an eye. Neither my old house nor my dear children could stand a chance in front of such a ruthless earthquake.

As everyday, I was just busy preparing fodder for cattle. Suddenly, a fierce shake started. I was just few steps away from my house. But my family members were in there; resting after breakfast. I cried very loud and called them to come outside immediately. I could hear them shouting and crying, but I could do nothing. The house could not make it till the end of the quake. None of my family members could make it outside. Even my young daughter-in-law and small daughter could not make it.

After a while , when dust settled down a bit, I went in my badly damaged house with only few walls remaining where I could see my small daughter and daughter-in-law dead on each others arms as if they were hugging each other during there last moments. Then I saw my old mom's body mashed by a big rock and her hand was caught by my wife who did not leave my old mother till her last breath.

Whoever and whatever left was just me and my son who was abroad unaware of this caos . I did not have any contact with him ,not even his phone number. Suddenly, I was unconsious and I fainted.

the terrible consequencies of such a disaster that befell Nepal, there can be no place on earth that could be less deserving of such horror, what can the people of Nepal have done to have so much suffering rained down on them, Twice!! Your story Ayush is one of the saddest tales to come out of this nightmare, your writing deserves an honor for the caring way you deal with this, bless the people of Nepal may they live in peace from now on :)
