Forced creativity

I'm not really a poet

Don't even know a sonnet

But this is a requirement

That's in need of fulfillment

I've got no inspiration,

But a lot of determination

It's just a bit frustrating,

When there's a deadline you're chasing

This might not be poetic at all

And it might cause a downfall

But at least I've got to try

Or else I haven't got a choice but to cry

It's hard when they force you to be an artist

When you're no Rembrandt or Henri Matisse

Only to have your work be criticized 

As if you were a professional, to be precise

They make you produce an art 

and put meaning to it part by part

But what's more to that activity

Than a mere forced creativity

I liked your poetry. It was a simple AABB format but you brought out your emotions. The atmosphere throughout your poetry was tense and you felt the frustrating. I understand tenacity. I would have loved if you had used some figures of speech, but it was a really good poem.

I love the last line. Sums everything up in an poetic way; a nice bit of irony that made me smile. As for the the message of the poem, my sentiment is you are right on!
