More than Time

moving on from the past takes much more than time.

"Time will heal all your wounds"

they say, 

No! 

That's a lie! 

It takes much more than time

It takes squeezing the blood out 

till there's no more

and you dry. 

It takes crying 

Till there's no more tears 

in your eyes. 

It takes me fooling myself 

Telling myself, "I'm fine" 

until I finally believe it 

and there's no doubt. 

It takes screaming 

into thin air 

until my voice gives out.

It takes realizing my pan 

and letting it go 

but faking a smile 

so he never knows, 

late at night, I'm still seeing his ghosts. 

It takes scarring your soul 

it takes much more than time

that's but a lie.
