Naked

Naked

A Poem by Ayamey

High School is a masquerade ball
costumes of all kinds
masks of large proportions
my eyes wander the halls
I see bright colors all around
not one disguise is seen twice
all unique and beautiful
not one of them real.
The beautiful is fake
the feelings, the faces, the personalities.
There's only one you
why hide behind a disguise?
oh...right
I know what it's like.
Show the better side
play the perfect role
you're a figure so small this world could crush you
and it has crushed you.
So you hide behind your masks
live like you're having a ball
I hope there comes a day
when all our masks could fall.
The day we stop caring
and start to just accept
that true beauty
doesn't need to cover up.
It takes real bravery
to be naked.
We all deserve to feel beautiful
when we're naked.
Because it can't get more perfect than that.
