Thank You

Thank You

A Poem by Carmen
"

An assignment I did in class: A thank you to the brave women and men who risks their lives to ensure that us as Americans can continue to be free.

"

I woke up today

Woke up with no worry on my mind and no troubles in my soul.

I walked today,

walked with my head held high got to where I needed to go.

I spoke today

I spoke without fear,

And the only reason I can do so is because of you

You're the reason why I'm here.

The battle you have fought,

the things that you have achieved,

Everything you've done has made this country a better place;

a land where I can be free.

I wish that I could thank you but words are just not enough

what you have done for this country

has taught me that there's no room for giving up.

I am an American

So very proud to be.

Because of you

I can breath,

I can speak

I can be the person I want to be.
