For KAS

A Poem by Awareintheworld

I wish I could be the one to rattle your cage.
Let the demons separate from the bones.
I wish I could hold your hand.
And take you to places rarely shown.

I wish I could know you, inside and out.
I wish I could help guide you, through all the fear and doubt.

But I'm not the one. I'm not even the two.
I'm not here long enough for even a bit of time to show proof.

That I care.
That I can.
That I dare.
To be more than just a silly fan.
Of your words.
Your smell.
And the way you hold me so well.

In the end, all I'll be is another on the shelf.
A girl who tried.
A girl who said bye.
Left you here.
With nothing but a stain and a piece of herself.
