Green GreenA Poem by Awareintheworld
The sweet smell of green green grass.
Lights on the city sprawl. Below, a view of an ocean, vast and true. We had warm shoulders to lean on Some words to exchange. We were introducing our souls. Seeing if they could rest soundly together. There was nothing we felt. No time in between. We were simple and pure Heavy and clean. Life keeps moving, though. And the ocean she turns. From cook outs to hammocks to assaults on the mind, We lost track of our beginnings. The green green grass turned to brown. Our minds started counting, Noticing the sounds. Of silence and missed romance. Of abuse and neglect. We put down our living. Shunned the things that made us whole. We lost our possessions, Our bodies we sold. When we came up for air, There was no more room. Everything had shifted. Nothing remained. So, we shook off our walls. Painted our faces. Said our goodbyes. Went back to our lives. With the image of lights And the smell of warm nights In the back of our lonely lonely minds. © 2015 Awareintheworld |
