A soldier's farewellA Poem by Avinash NagarajThis is a poem on a soldier's death.A SOLDIER’S DEATH Sleep
O’ mighty soldier, the almighty calls, Rest
in peace O’ brave one, thy shadow falls. Thy
warfare o’er, thy cause-liberty, Now
thine fulfilled, thou art bound to felicity. Thou
art free from this spell-bound land, We
pay our price for sins, our lives’ errand. Thou
have served thy kingdom well, job well done, So
thou shalt not be woe-be-gone. Farewell
O’ mighty soldier, attend the almighty’s call, That’s
what thy aim was, above all, Thou
shalt enter a beautiful vale, And
forget thy god-forsaken tale. And
thou shalt re-incarnate as a different man, for thou art, As
unfortunate enough as thy dart Of
slightest fortune to escape this dreadful club-fed, For
the world is round and man is cursed! © 2011 Avinash NagarajAuthor's Note
