Let Me Sleep

Let Me Sleep

A Poem by Twilight

Let me sleep until the day

That passion rules the world;

When one wants more than just the flesh

But the soul that’s trapped inside.

Let me sleep until my heart’s

Taken into account,

So I needn’t watch days go by

As I sit idly, wondering why

The ones for love are thrown aside

For those who only love their pride…

Wake me when she finally sees

The passion burning within me

So we won’t worry ‘bout the sea

Drowning us in misery.

I don’t want to feel the pain

Of countless loves lost to those

Who want naught more than their chests

And not what lies inside.

Save me from the turmoil

Of a world run by lust and want.

Show me a place

Where mind beats body.

Bring to me a world

Where one can speak his mind and spill his heart.

Help create a reason

For works happier than this to be written.

And until such happens, please…

Just let me sleep.
