Heat of Passion

Heat of Passion

A Poem by Twilight

Fueled by the heat of passion

Started by Fate’s bittersweet touch

Like an instant immersion into the depths of the cosmos

A moment where all Creation bows in its honor…

This moment, not soon forgotten,

Taking but minutes, seeming like a lifetime

But a lifetime well spent.

That’s what they all say…

Why does Fate despise me so?

I did not falter, when she became his;

I stood and waited vig’lantly.

Now here’s my chance, one I can’t take

For she would have naught of me.

Why can Fate not intervene?

Why am I not helped?

Why must the tale unfold,

As tragically as this?

What have I done to warrant this,

This fruitless expedition?

Must I be like Tantalus,

And her my only tree?

Shall I never taste its fruit,

Ever retreating from my grasp?

Indeed, now I am starving,

And I have not much time left.

She and Fate hath forsaken me,

And my back’s against the wall.

I know I must now take this

Into my hands alone,

But I know not how.
