The Fight

These things I write so well. I pray to one day learn and master them

To have the strength to fight the devil
Is to have the strength to turn away
It's letting your wants and desires die
Fade away and holding firmly onto God
It's crying out anytime things go wrong
Having faith when strength slips away
It's sacrificing your will for God
It's knowing this is a constant battle, not a single war
Every day, every moment
In everything. Hold on to Him

Beautiful piece. Everyone fights a fierce battle within. They say Devil works through your Mind, it's the Devil Advocate. But, there is a Voice always present to Guide us. If we heed to it, nothing in this world can stop you to rise and win no matter how hard it gets. This poetry takes me back to my Struggling days, my darkest nights. Only advice i wanna give to newbies is that, GO by the FAITH and Follow your Conscience. Remember GOD gives the toughest role to HIS best actors. Play it like a PRO! =)

This started out well; continued along beautifully; you kind of slipped a bit with your musicality by Line 4, but regained it by Line 5. Line 7 sounds like an unnecessary repetition, for it paints a similar image as that in Line 4 (and my preference would be to keep Line 7 as is, and get rid of Line 4 due to its wonky musicality). And at the end, it comes to a sweet and powerful close with a plea to always look to Him and trust in Him (this works because you're not repeating "God" and it also adds a nice kicker at the end, because you mentioned God prior so the "Him" has all the more power). Well done!

Thank you for the corrections as always. I will try to apply them in future. Poems like this just flow from me and I'm not always even sure where they're going. I feel they're special hence, I don't like altering them, but I sincerely appreciate all your input :)

Poems that write themselves are the best, and it's good you allow them to do that (it's not always good to be in control of it). What sometimes happens, though, is that the Muse or poem gets carried away in the momentum of the spur that you afterwards have to stand back and inspect the piece to see where if it needs to be corrected in any way shape or form. My comments, as you know (and I appreciate your appreciation for them), are guidelines to help you on the road of self-editing. You need to have a good eye for what needs to stand out and what doesn't need too much of the spotlight. Again, well done!
