I know now

I know now

A Poem by Avia

You think i don't see your stares and glares
Your malicious looks, your fake concern and care
I don't buy your pretence anymore, sell it somewhere else
Your cute names and sweet words might work on someone else
But that's not me anymore, the scales have fallen from my eyes
That kind and loving demeanor that angelic disguise
I know really what you think when you try to fake a smile
I slap myself to think that once I believed you for a while
But trust that now i know the truth, the love i felt for you
Is buried in a shallow grave, now let's see who's the fool
I take my steps with caution, noting your every move
For fallen now is the pedestal, on which i once placed you

this is beautifully expressed. we all have gone through something like this and can hence relate to it on a personal level. some people come into our lives and we think they are blessings but the reality is folded after you realize that they werent what you think they were. but they were toxic to you

Yea. It's sad though, to realize it.

I'm glad you loved it :)
You express the disillusionment of love very well. But finding out about that fake smile and that 'angelic disguise', can be very, very, hard. I think you end your poem on a wise note 'I take my steps with caution.'
