Mistakes

Mistakes

A Poem by Avia

I've done things i'm not proud of, still do sometimes.
And I won't make excuses, i'm changing my life.
From the way i was before, to the way i want to be.
A mile away from where i was, abandoned the old me.
But i kept the lessons, those precious gifts it gave.
I learn more from losing, than winning every game.

I know it was all necessary, i know i had to learn.
To strive, be brave, to move on and to yearn.
But each time i feel joy, i have this harsh recall.
It makes it hard to move on, keeps me in the past.
I torment myself, and wonder how long it'll last.

Your poem was great. What I would recommend is you cut/change some words off like: every=the (6th line 1st stanza), cut "the" (1st line, second stanza), cut "to" from to be brave (2nd line 2nd stanza), cut 3rd "it" (4th line 2nd stanza)
