Concerning Santiago and Dunbar

Concerning Santiago and Dunbar

A Poem by Avery James

The triludent misses of my past have passed.

The bites and licks nick and the back of my brain

but you make you my main thought

and if I forgot then f**k

but for me to get you is just luck.

I discover secrets in your eyes

absent from touch

the way we kiss

leaves no room for such.

You presume yourself a mystery

but a puzzle I've grasped

Your pieces missing

accent color in gaps.

When you're away what's left wastes time n clocks rot in rewind

My mind ticks and Dunbar, life's the s***s without you

Gather me behind sunken eyes and white lies

"The house we live in is all I know."

We let overwhelming emotions show

to those who give doubt wings.

We sing praises of an irradescent god

without sleep.

Very nice. I love the whole imagery of this piece. However, I believe the last line somewhat disrupts the flow. I love how it's worded, but it doesn't feel as if it belongs. Otherwise, this is a wonderful poem.

I am only a nick in time. Music is the blood in my veins. I want to enjoy this place. I do not judge or expect anything from you, as long as you do the same. I love to laugh and make inappropriate jok.. more..
